Dissemination activities and exploitation of results

The Open Semantic Bus enriched with the semantic metadata container (the USE) and semantic search engine will be at the heart of choice for audiovisual production and archives utilisation. Taking account of the content logistics will also enhance the confidence of the content providers of this technology. Furthermore, the easy workflow will be a solution of choice for amateurs to improve their skills and learn communicating with audiovisual content as they do today with text. This technology will be a first choice for all the social networks.

At the moment, the distributions of contents see many actors proposing solutions. This project is at the other end of the chain. If the target is reached, this application will be the necessary complement of the content providers and will easily find its place helping the web 2.0 market to grow with a real income of quality UGC. Industrial partners will be in a better position to deliver such terminals as the networking camcorder

Dissemination activities shall include the preparation of a Dissemination Plan as a final result of the project, and the building of a web site to make the information of the project available to the Internet community.

But the best way to disseminate the results will be the availability of the USE case, the web TV on the worldwide Internet. Everybody should be allowed to see and participate to this collaborative platform. The partners guarantee to make an important promotion for the demonstrator, which will be set up via all possible communication means (data transmission, web site, press conference....).

Under the coordination of TITAN and its members, several projects are being conducted with these objectives in mind. Under the responsibility of MEMNON, the development efforts planned, as part of the MEMORIES project will progressively release the results of the AXIS dynamics under the name "AXIS Bundle". The releases will become available under an Open Licence (marked as PU).

Titan will also organise several workshops to demonstrate the results of the project inside of the companies, to academics, potential end-users and potential business partners: presentation of the results for the editorial and technical community through conventions such as MIPTV, IPTV Forum, IBC, NAB, Broadcast Asia, IFTA, Newsxchange, DAM symposium, SMPTE, as well as EBU workgroups. Dissemination through the Titan association and its Media Wrapper Round Tables. White papers for RTS, BKSTS, SMPTE , CST and contact with the US archive community (PBS, Library of Congress, …). Articles for TVB Europe, TV Technology Europe, IBCdaily.

Last but not least, the results will be further exploited by the content partners in the traditional broadcast but also by proposing new services on the interactive distribution. MediaMap will be a good “teacher” to demonstrate inside of the companies during the three next years that the interaction of the future will be between registration/storage and querying! This will be a major change in the global view of what a Broadcast company is today and could be tomorrow!

In order to have a successful exploitation of MediaMap results, the industry partners are planning to deposit patents on the most innovative parts of the project and to start the commercialisation of products and services on the professional market. When the technology will be fully assessed by professional users, the MediaMap Partnership will get in touch with consumer market actors so as to propose them IP licenses concerning the innovations made by the project and to deploy the associated services developed in the project at a wider scale.

The way to apply for patents and to commercialise IP will be in line with the Celtic Frame Agreement (CFA).
